You’ve read about it, you’ve seen big name international DJ’s doing it, you’ve seen our cutting edge local DJ’s doing it, now learn what DJ’ing with Ableton is all about. This concise, fun, practical course shows you everything you need to know to evolve your DJ sets to the next level, from preparing your songs, key mixing, routing soundcards, choosing, setting up and mapping midi controllers and using fx’s to incorporating traditional dj gear into your set up and recording mixed cds. The Future of Djing is here, be at the forefront of the movement and embrace the next level of DJ technology and performance.

Note: You do not need previous experience or knowledge of the Ableton Live software to attend this course. However, previous DJ experience or an understanding of traditional DJing concepts is advisable but not essential.

This course is ideal for DJ’s wanting to use Ableton Live for preforming live dj sets and remixes as well as doing multitrack recording of DJ sets and mixed CD's.

Course Outline

General Ableton navigation and setup
Time correcting tracks/parts and different granular synthesis modes
Setting up a Live Session for use with DJ Set/Live Remix Set/Live Set
Midi controller mapping and assignment
Beat mixing with Live
Monitoring/cueing with Live and setting up your soundcard
Using effects with Live in your DJ set
Using Live as a quantized sampler
Using accapellas in your Live DJ set
Setting up EQ's to use Ableton as a DJ mixer
Phrase Mixing
Key Mixing and keying your tracks and parts
Putting together a DJ set : Structure / fail safes / performance
Putting together a mix CD using Ableton Live
Automation, phrasing, eq’ing your mix CD
Ableton Live club set up

Each student has their own Digital DJ workstation through out the entire course, including: Mac Book laptops, Live 7, midi controllers, soundcards, CDJs, DJ Mixers and monitors and headphones.
Complete hands-on learning through out the entire course
Personal one on one instructing for each course module
Large Projector Screen display for all instructors practical demonstrations
Practical mixing of DJ set with Ableton DJ set ups during classes
Weekday Evening Classes
8 hrs total contact time

Attendance

This is a 4 week course.
Students are required to attend one night a week for 4 consecutive weeks.
Classes will start at 6pm sharp and will end at approximately 8pm.
Once placed into a group you will be given a designated night of the week to attend the class.
You will attend the class on the same designated weekday for all 4 weeks of the course.

Groups of 2 or more people recieve a group discount were each persons course fee is $330
